The film The Marvels is the 33rd installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), and Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) form a team. Nia DaCosta directed the film, which she co-wrote with Megan McDonnell, Elissa Karasik, and Zeb Wells. When the three superheroes use their powers, they begin to experience a strange phenomenon in which their powers switch. They must collaborate to investigate and solve the mystery. In addition, Samuel L Jackson reprises his role as Nick Fury in the film. Park Seo-joon also appears in an unspecified capacity. From Ms Marvel, Saagar Shaikh, Zenobia Shroff, and Mohan Kapur return.
But who is the villain here?
Zawe Ashton as Dar-Benn
It has been confirmed that Zawe Ashton will play the Big Bad in the film. She will be playing a gender-flipped Dar-Benn from the comics. The character played by Ashton, whose name has yet to be revealed, is expected to pose a formidable threat to the film's protagonists.
Dar-Benn is a relatively unknown character in the Marvel universe, which makes her inclusion in The Marvels all the more intriguing. She is a Kree soldier and a member of the Accuser Corps, a powerful group of warriors tasked with maintaining the Kree Empire's dominance in the galaxy, according to what we know so far. While we know very little about the character's motivations and actions in the film, we can make some educated guesses.
The Kree are not a new addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They've appeared previously in Guardians of the Galaxy, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Captain Marvel. Their depiction has varied from film to film, but they have always been portrayed as a powerful and dangerous alien race with a strict code of conduct. Dar-Benn will most likely be an extension of this characterization in The Marvels. She will most likely be a fearsome warrior, devoted to her mission and devoted to the Kree Empire.
While the Kree are portrayed as a formidable force, they are not without flaws. We learned in Captain Marvel that the Kree have been at odds with the Skrulls, another alien race we've seen before in the MCU. Dar-Benn's presence could be related to the upcoming MCU TV series Secret Invasion, which is set to premiere this summer and deals with the Skrull invasion of Earth.
This is unimportant, but Ashton is the partner of Tom Hiddleston, the English actor best known for playing Loki, and it is possible that their characters will interact in the future.
