"Unveiling the Intriguing World of Honey Traps: DRDO case EXPLAINED": Mumbai's famous ATS squad recently filed a charge sheet of 1600 pages against DRDO Scientist Pradeep Kurulkar.
WHAT IS EXACTLY HONEY TRAP?
ABOUT THE CASE:
In the past few weeks, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has seen a lot of controversy because DRDO scientist Pradeep Kurulkar has been booked for espionage because he leaked missile secrets of the country to a Pakistani spy.
According to reports, Dr. Pradeep Kurulkar, a scientist at DRDO, was attracted to a Pakistani Intelligence Operative who concealed her identity, thinking it was a Hindu woman, to lure the scientist into learning secrets about the Indian military.
Pradeep Kurulkar has now been charged by the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Mumbai with disclosing top-secret defense secrets concerning the Indian missile system to a Pakistani spy who talked with him under the alias of "Zara Dasgupta."
After being arrested on May 3 on suspicion of spying, Pradeep Kurulkar has now spoken out about his contact with Pakistani agent Zara and how he was convinced to disclose sensitive information.
Kurulkar is said to have become friends with 'Dasgupta,' who claimed to be a software engineer working out of the UK. In the over 2000-page charge sheet, the ATS said that it wasn't until after the inquiry that it was discovered that her IP address had been traced to Pakistan.
According to the chargesheet cited by PTI, "Kurulkar, who was attracted to her, stored the classified and sensitive information of DRDO on his personal phone and then allegedly shared it with Zara." The ATS also discovered discussions in which Kurulkar shared with her both personal and professional schedules and locations that he wasn't permitted to reveal to anyone.
What did they talk about?
Kurulkar allegedly spoke with the Pakistani agent about secret information relating to the BrahMos Launcher, SAM(surface-to-air missile), Drone, RUSTOM, Unmanned Combat Vehicles (UCV), and Agni Missile Launcher, among other things, according to the charging document. The claim is that he allegedly gave information on other defense programs as well as precise structural details concerning missile systems.
According to sources, the woman also provided him with email addresses and passwords for uploading the information and asked him to download malicious programs, which use all of the downloaded phones' and email data.
The scientist's activities were tracked while the investigations went on from Islamabad, Pakistan, indicating the potential involvement of the Pakistani intelligence organization, ISI.
